How to Find and Rent the Best Mailing Lists
When promoting business opportunities, there are a few important things you may want to consider.
The list you rent must have names that have proven to be “Direct Mail Responsive”. This means the list of names should have been generated from Direct Mail offers, not online Biz-Op surveys, Social Media, etc.
Please pay very close attention to this: “Lists” that have been generated online and rented as direct mail leads are not classified as direct mail responsive.
When searching for a lead source, you should understand there are basically three (3) types of lists being offered by various companies for business opportunity offers. These are Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) Lists (or Network Marketing), Opportunity Seekers Lists, and Opportunity Buyers Mailing Lists.
Always use an “Opportunity Buyers List” or “Multi Level Marketing Lists”. Keep in mind that Opportunity Seekers have not proven their direct mail responsiveness. Basically, they are simply “tire kickers” or people who have not taken action. Always use an Opportunity Buyers mailing list or an MLM mailing list for best results.
Where can you find these lists? Just go to the Google search box and type the keywords below:
“Opportunity Buyers mailing lists” or Multi-Level Marketing mailing lists”. Ignore the sponsored ads because those companies paid for placement to be listed toward the top of the page. So, choose from the companies that are shown below the “Sponsored Ad Section.”
When using a list from any company, it is very important to understand that you are “renting” the names for a “One-Time” use only... Once someone responds to your offer, they become “your lead” and you can then mail to them as many times as you like.
Always test a small quantity before renting larger quantities, like 300 to 500 names at first (all from the same list). Do NOT mix names from different lists together or you will not know which list performs the best. It is always a good idea to test multiple companies to find out which ones have the most responsive lists. This is particularly important because some companies with a small database of names could potentially be renting the same names over and over.
What is the best day to drop your letters or postcards in the mail?
It is always best to mail your letters or postcards on a Thursday or Friday. In doing so, your offer will reach the recipient early in the next week. We do not want our offers to arrive on a Friday or Saturday. Weekends are hectic for many people and have plans. Especially during the Summer months, as people have plans for things such as Graduations, Vacations, Weddings, Retirement Parties, etc. When people are busy, many times the mail is set aside for further reading. That mail often never gets read and may be trashed.
When ordering your leads...
Be sure to get peel and stick mailing labels!
